| Festival Description | Jazz Days in Debrecen, organised by the Kölcsey Cultural Centre in cooperation with Hungarian Radio, is Hungary’s oldest jazz festival, now a quarter of a century old. Since it first began, the festival has become an inseparable part of the city, and it has developed into the foremost and most permanent gathering of jazz music in Hungary and East-Central Europe. It gives Hungarian and East-Central European jazz musicians an opportunity to play together with famous jazz musicians and groups from Europe and all over the world. The festival officially accompanies the Debrecen Spring Festival, which gives audiences the chance to hear both traditional and new trends in jazz music. In the previous years Jazz Days has featured performances by both leading Hungarian artists and numerous international stars. To name just a few: Colors, Doldinger Passport, Oregon, Steps, Shankar-Garbarek Quartet, Joe Zavinul, Tony Scott, and Zbigniew Namislowsky. |
