Organised by the Festival Centre in co-operation with the city’s other cultural organisations (the Csokonai Theatre, the Déri Museum, the Kodály Choir, the Debrecen Philharmonic Orchestra, the Ferenc Liszt College for Musicians, etc.), the Debrecen Spring Festival is one of the city’s largest and most prominent cultural programmes. At the festival approximately 50 programmes (classical music concerts, popmusic concerts, theatre productions) and countless fine art exhibitions await the visitor. The rich classical music programmes include both world and Hungarian premiers. Under the influence of the festival new musical and cultural groups, representing particular values, are being formed continuously. Due to good relations with the capital, some of the events featured in the Budapest Spring Festival can also be seen in Debrecen, and similarly Debrecen artists appear in Budapest.
