In Gyôr, where the city is uniquely rich in baroque architecture, starting on the first of October, the International Music Day, and lasting for a month, is the Baroque Nostalgia Art Festival, a festival that nurtures and presents the art and traditions of the baroque age. The cultural events take place in the most beautiful of Gyôr’s baroque palaces, the Zichy and Esterházy palaces, in the Basilica of Gyôr, and in the Lutheran Old Church. The outstanding event of the festival is a series of concerts by prize winners of international music competitions, in which, accompanied by Gyôr Philharmonic Orchestra, the best soloists in the world perform. Visitors also get the chance to experience dances, music, and fine art from the 17-18th centuries.
