| Festival Description | Every year Heraklion City Council organises art events in the open-air theatres of Nikos Kazantzakis and Manos Hatzidakis in the centre of the city (as well as other venues). The festival has welcomed the likes of the Kirov Opera and Bolshoi Ballet, the Vienna Opera, Alvin Ailey and other top performing arts groups from around the world. The festival programming includes dance, music and theatre performances. The Heraklion Summer Arts Festival features over seventy different performances, involving artists from a host of countries. Do come along - festival evenings are sure to add to your enjoyment of the city. |
