The festival of Kassandra is one of the most remarkable and dynamic cultural events in our country in the areas of Art and Civilization. The festival was established in 1993 and continues its successful course for over a decade. During these successful years, besides its Pan - Hellenic recognition and reputation, its fame has traveled beyond our country’s border with visitors from all over the world. This is because while in its two months duration it manages to show and cover a big and diverse choice of all kinds of arts and human expression (music, theatre, dance, films and pictorial interventions) with high quality standards and artistic performances and suggestions from all over Greece and other countries as well. Some of the names that with their presence have occasionally contributed and added prestige to the Kassandra Festival include: Joan Baez, Dimitris Zgouros, Eleftheria Arvanitaki, Marinella, Haris Alexiou, Jan Garbarek, Dionissis Savopoulos, Diamanda Gallas, Dimitris Mitropanos, Nikos Xidakis, Giorgos Dlalaras, BB King, James Brown, Paco Pena, Nana Mushouri, Kostas Hatzis, Marios Fragoulis, Nikos Papazoglou. The Festival of Kassandra takes place in the amphitheatre of Siviri, which is always crowded by people who come from different places in Greece and abroad. Thus, Kassandra ‘s festival is characterized as a point of reference of civilization and recreation.
