| Festival Description | Member of the European Festivals Association since 1991—Baroque music and Jazz are both based on the contrasts between even period, continuous rhythm, and irregular elements, indeed stark breaks from the underlying evenness. Both feed on the tension created by the anticipated and unanticipated surprise. A further common characteristic is improvisation. The Dresden Music Festival aims to investigate this open and secret relationship, and reveal how these two styles cross-fertilise. It goes without saying that there will be no shortage of enjoyment at this feast of rhythm, improvisation and swinging musicianship. |
