| Festival Description | STIMMEN—an international festival, is dedicated solely to vocal artists. The festival is situated in Lörrach, in the heart of Europe—in the 3-country-area (Germany, Switzerland, France) around Bale. It was founded in 1994 and will mark it’s 15th edition from July 2nd to 27th 2008 with focuses on the vocal music from the Alpin region and from Italy. Also the program includes an extraordinary choice of vocal artists from all over the world. The international program creates an atmosphere of living, cultural exchange. Part of the program includes a workshop-series—”Sommer Werkstatt Gesang”, where the participants can experience different vocal techniques and styles, taught by extraordinary singers and vocal teachers. The concert program includes musical ballads through times and cultures, and through the width and depth of singing. Starting with old vocal traditions, through the classical European period, to contemporary world music and experimental performances. It takes place in different venues and churches in the region.
